Belgium Restaurant New York

The first interaction was strange. The host was speaking to our party of 3 and in the middle of finding out information, she began to speak tot he people waiting next in line to be seated. She had both parties follow her in to the empty restaurant. The space is spacious and strangely quiet for brunch.

We ordered our drinks and the bloody mary came loaded with pepper and the cappuccino was horrendous. We went there because of the decent reviews on the food. The bacon waffle came ice cold, and both orders of eggs benedict were cold. The kitchens time management could have been off because their french fries were piping hot and very good. They were really the only good thing about this place.

The waitress was sweet and it seemed she had been down this road before. She replaced the cappuccino with tea and the blood for a mimosa.

I would not say it was my worst experience for brunch but it was barely touching mediocre at best.

The reason we went there was because the location was close to our hotel and they took a reservation for Sunday brunch. I guess next time we will wait on the line in the East or West Village for some better eats and livelier atmosphere.
